Mantram - 2.8.2:  i) The ‘Joy’ of the Most Successful Man

saa eshaa aanandasya =The following concerning Happiness  

meemaamsaa bhavati: =  is the Enquiry we are concerned with: 

yuvaa syaat saadhuh yuvaa = Suppose there be a youth,  

adhyaayakah aashishthah  = good, well-versed in the scriptures,  

dridhishthah balishthah. = well-disciplined resolute and very strong. 

tasya iyam prithivee sarvaa = Supposed to him, all this earth    

vittasya poornaa syaat. = full of wealth belongs. 

sah ekah maanusha aanandah. = Let us call this one unit of human bliss.

The first level is of Man on earth. It is not just any man, but one who is both young and good. He is also learned, an able administrator, enjoying excellent health, and very 

strong physically and mentally. Added to all this is the fact that he possesses the entire Earth full of all the wealth and means of enjoyment. He is a King of all kings on earth. What would be the joy experienced by such a human being? That joy is measured as 1 unit of Joy.
