PART 1: Chapter - 1:  4 mantras:  The Theory of CREATION:

===================================================================================

Mantram - 1.2: The Creation of the Worlds:

 4.

 sa imaan lokaan asrijata: ambhah = He created all these Worlds (14 in no.): Ambhah ,

 Mareecheeh, Marahand Aapah = Mareecheeh, Marah and Aapah.

5.

amah ambhah,parena divam, = 1. Far beyond is Ambha, just above the heaven (Svah),

dyauh pratishthaa; = with Svah acting as its support;

6.

antariksham mareechaya ; = 2. The ‘sky’ is Mareecheeh (between heaven and earth);

prithivi marah = 3. The Earth is Marah (Bhuh, or the plane of death);

7.

yaa adhastaat =4. What lies below Earth is

taah aapah . =  Aapah (water, representing the nether worlds).

======================================================================================

4.

The four divisions listed here are equivalent to all the 14 worlds – we have learnt about these in Vedanta Sara. The comparison is shown as follows:

i)   5 Ambhah –

all the 5 heavenly worlds from Svah upwards; namely Svah, Mahah,  Janah, Tapah, and Satya; Satya is Brahmaloka, the highest heaven.

ii)  6 Mareecheeh –

 the interspatial world, Bhuvah, between heaven and earth;

iii) 6 Marah –

 the Earth, Bhuh; Earth is also called the world of ‘Death’;

iv) 7 Aapah –

all the 7 underworlds; namely, Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Rasatala,  Talatala, Mahatala, and Patala. Patala is the lowest hell.
