Mundakopanishad : Chapter-2, Section-1, Mantram-4. { Cosmic form of 'Brahmam' - the 'Indweller' of all living beings }

Mundakopanishad :

Chapter-2.

Section-1.

Mantram- 4. { Cosmic  form  of  'Brahmam' - the 'Indweller' of  all  living  beings }

Discussion - 4. "description  of  the  Infinite  in  terms  of  the  finite ........."

In  Vedantham,  in  its  own  technical  language,  it  says  that  the  eye  is  presided  over  by  the  deity,  the  Quarters.

It  is  such  statements  that  upset  the  Western  reader  and  their  Eastern  products  viz.  ourselves.

When  Vedantha-Sastram  says  that  the  eye  is  blessed  by  the  grace  of  Sun,  it  only  means  that  in  a  medium  of  light  alone  can  the  eyes  function;  so  too,  only  in  a  medium  of  space  can  the  sound  travel  and  only  where  sounds  are,  can  the  ears  function.

The  entire  mantram  is  thus  the  description  of  the  Infinite  in  terms  of  the  finite.

Next : Mantram-5.

To be continued  ....
