MANDUKYA UPANISHAD

INTRODUCTION-7.

The  technique  in  every  Upanishad  is  one  and  the  same;  it  is  a  personal  conversation  between  an  enquiring  and  thirsty  student  and  a  sympathetic  and  loving  Man-of-Wisdom, the Guru, the Rishi.

No  Upanishad  fails  to  give  a  sufficiently  direct  evidence  as  to  the  existence  of  a  definite  Guru  and  particular  disciple  at  the  background  of  it.

In  Mandukya  Upanishad  too  have,  in  the  very  opening,  a  picture  of  a  Guru  and  a  disciple  sitting  together  discussing  upon  the  transcendental  themes  of  philosophy  --  and  though  not  directly  explained  as  such,  but  in  a  masterly  way,  with  implications,  the  idea  of  a  Guru - Sishya - samvada ( teacher-student-discussion )  has  been  amply  indicated  for  all  readers  of  sympathetic  heart  to  perceive  and  enjoy.
