Commentary on the Isavasya Upanishad - 10.

Chinmaya Mission 

It was heartening to witness a wonderful turnout, with many new families attending the 2023-24 BalaVihar opening day at  Chinmaya Mission Chicago - Badri (Willowbrook, IL) center. 

The Badri Swaranjali group sang mesmerizing bhajans, and students in the Vedic chanting class recited the Dasha Shanti Mantras during the Ganesha and Saraswati puja conducted by their resident acharya, Swami Sharanananda, to herald an auspicious start to the new session. 

All the children, along with their parents, were excited to meet the new Bala Vihar teachers and Study Group sevaks/sevikas.

Mantram - 13.

"Anyad-evahuh sambhavat anyad-ahur-assmbhavat,

iti susruma dhiranam ye nastad vica-caksire."

anyate—one thing, different; 

eva—even, indeed; 

ahuh—they say; 

sambhavat—creator; 

anyat—different, one thing; 

ahuh—they say; 

asambhavat—destroyer; 

iti—thus; 

susruma—we have heard; 

dhiranam—of the wise, 

of steadfast sages; 

ye—who; 

nah—to us; 

tat—that; 

vicacaksire—explained, taught.

Commentary

One thing they say, is verily obtained from the worship of the manifest. Another thing, they say, from the worship of the unmanifest; thus have we heard from the wise who have explained that to us.  

Just as in the mantras 9 & 11, here alsi Rishi is trying to explain to us that what we generally understand by the term manifest  and unmanifest are not exactly what they connote  in the technique of Self-perfection, but that they have some special significance. This orientation of the idea is again vouch-safed here as not merely a whiff of the Rishi's own personal opinion, but that it has the sanction of the entire hirarchy of the experinced masters and their disciples.
