Chinmaya Mission: On 6th Sept, at Chinmaya Mission New Zealand, a special Youth Workshop was conducted under the guidance of Swami Aprokshanandaji on the theme of Self-Image. The session shed light on the powerful truth that one’s self-image is not defined by external factors but is consciously created by the individual. Swamiji emphasized how the choice of perspective plays a vital role in shaping this image and how a shift in outlook can transform the way a person relates to themselves and the world. Through engaging explanations and practical examples, participants were encouraged to reflect deeply, reframe their thinking, and embrace a healthier sense of identity. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm, openness, and thoughtful discussions, making it a truly interactive learning space. The Mission expressed heartfelt gratitude to Swamiji for his invaluable wisdom and guidance and extended appreciation to the youth participants for their eagerness to learn and their contribution ...

Books Upanishads The Philosophy of the Panchadasi: 3.4. Chapter 4: Discrimination of Duality-1. 1.Creation by Isvara and Jiva: Swami Krishnananda. =========================================================================== Chapter 4: Discrimination of Duality-1. 1.Creation by Isvara and Jiva:1.  Though truth is unitary and Brahman is absolute, the realisation of it is possible only by stages and by a gradual rise of consciousness from its Jivahood in various degrees of reality which it experiences in the different stages of its evolution. God, world and soul, in their distinctive features, appear to have a reality in the beginning, and this being the fundamental stage, the Sadhana of the Jiva should begin from this level. The creation of the world, which is being taken for granted by the Jiva, is to be first analysed. It is to be show...

Chinmaya Mission: A group of students from USA visited CORD Siruvani for an immersion camp designed to provide firsthand exposure to rural development initiatives and grassroots community life. The camp combined prayers, presentations, field visits, and hands-on activities, offering participants both learning and service opportunities. The visit began with prayers led by Dr. Meeraji and the CORD staff, setting a reflective tone. Students were introduced to the objectives and core values of CORD through a presentation that highlighted Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Mahila Mandals, and the Panchayat system. Some students also presented on themes such as life in the USA, aids and appliances for the differently abled, and grievance redressal mechanisms in their country. The camp took the group into tribal villages, where they listened to stories of communities that have lived in the region for over 2,000 years. They engaged in activities such as digging soil with traditional tools, clearin...

Insects, reptiles, mammals and human beings are busy feeding their stomachs to survive somehow or other, to...

Chapter 2: The Problem in Understanding the Upanishads-7. Swami Krishnananda Post-13. ======================================================================================= It is that the philosophy of enjoyment, hedonism and materialism started with Virochana, because he concluded that the Ultimate Reality is this body, which was very clear from the instructions he received from Prajapati. And what does this body need? It needs eating, drinking, enjoying, sleeping and all the appurtenances of physicality. Indra also got this knowledge. He left, thinking that he had this wisdom. On the way, he had a difficulty. “I this the Self? This thing? No, it cannot be. The Self is supposed to be a permanent entity, but this body is not permanent. So if the body gets old, the Self will also become old; if the body become sick, the Self...

====================================================================================== Wednesday 03, Sep 2025, 20:30. Article Scriptures Commentary on the Isa Vasya Upanishad: 16. Part-3. Swami Krishnananda POST: 17. ====================================================================================== If one is totally ignorant of the existence of the Atman inside, and is wholly engaged in bodily comforts and works through the body for the sake of physical satisfaction, it is bad because the physical body is not the reality. So, one kind of extreme in the attitude of people makes them bend down to the needs and clamours of the bodily satisfactions and work for the body only, whether one's own body or family body. This is sheer ignorance, as we know very well. And contemplation on the Atman by imagining it to be a light transcendent to the physical world and this body would take another course, whereby we are likely to ignore the body completely. On the one hand, we ignore the At...

Chapter 3: Discrimination of the Five Sheaths 4. 3.Isvara and Jiva: Swami Krishnananda. ============================================================================================== 3.Isvara and Jiva: There is a universal determining power, which ordinarily goes by the name of law of nature, hiddenly present in everything in every condition, by which everything is regulated and on account of which things do not overstep their limits and maintain their distinctive features. This law is responsible for the harmony seen in creation: If there were to be no such law, anything could change its nature any time, and one would not be able to determine even the way in which one has to direct one's actions. There would be catastrophe in the cosmos and chaos created if a governing law were not to exist. It is Brahman reflecting ...
