================================================================================== Sunday 31, Aug 2025, 21:50. Books Upanishads The Philosophy of the Panchadasi: 3.4. Chapter 3: Discrimination of the Five Sheaths 4. 3.Isvara and Jiva: Swami Krishnananda. ============================================================================================== 3.Isvara and Jiva: There is a universal determining power, which ordinarily goes by the name of law of nature, hiddenly present in everything in every condition, by which everything is regulated and on account of which things do not overstep their limits and maintain their distinctive features. This law is responsible for the harmony seen in creation: If there were to be no such law, anything could change its nature any time, and one would not be able to determine even the way in which one has to direct one's actions. There would be catastrophe in the cosmos and chaos created if a governing law were not to exist. It is Brahman reflecting ...

Aug 2025, 05:20.           SHAVASYA UPANISHAD:   18 Mantras on:  “The All-Pervading Reality” -1. INTRODUCTION TO THE UPANISHAD Swami Gurubhaktananda. ================================================================================================ INTRODUCTION TO THE UPANISHAD: THIS UPANISHAD IS IN the Shukla Yajur Veda. It is part of the Samhitas. It takes its name from the first word of the first Mantra which means “the dwelling or clothing of the Lord”. There are only 18 Mantras in this text, but it has attracted the most number of commentaries, which suggests the importance of this Upanishad.   It is usually the first Upanishad taken up in a course of study of Vedanta. The text is split into five chapters, which we have called “Waves”; each one is a ‘wave’ of Truth.  The target reader for this Upanishad coul...

===================================================================================== Friday 22, Aug 2025, 20:00. Books Upanishads Lessons on the Upanishads: 2.6. Chapter 2: The Problem in Understanding the Upanishads-6. Swami Krishnananda Post-12. ====================================================================================== Then the Upanishad goes into the great initiation which the master imparted to the boy Nachiketas, which is a subject by itself. Now, is any one of us prepared to face this kind of encounter? If the whole earth becomes yours, you will jump just now. You will leave the hall and run. All of you will run from this hall because the whole earth is coming to you. That temptation becomes inevitable in the case of most of us because we do not understand the significance of the answer to this question. We think there are so many questions and this is also one question; and there so many answers and this is also one answer. What do we gain by knowing the answer to t...

You Ask, He Answers offers spiritual insights for a life in harmony with dharma and relationships. ====================================================================================== Monday 18, Aug 2025, 05:16. Article Scriptures Commentary on the Isa Vasya Upanishad: 16. Part-3. Swami Krishnananda POST: 16. ====================================================================================== The effect of this kind of involvement in physical activity and bodily comfort is one thing. That is unadulterated bondage, as can be very well imagined by everyone. We will be born into the same condition in which we lived because of such attachment to the physical body and the actions of the body in relation to the physical world. There is no Atman, no God, no spirituality; no such idea occurs to the minds of people who a...

================================================================================== Saturday 16, Aug 2025, 06:10. Books Upanishads The Philosophy of the Panchadasi: 3.3. Chapter 3: Discrimination of the Five Sheaths 3. 2.The Atman Swami Krishnananda. ===================================================================================== 2.The Atman There is nothing that one can know, other than the sheaths, and the sheaths are not the reality. But the fact of there being an experiencer of the states of sheaths, which are all relative, cannot be denied. This is the Atman. The self-luminous Atman, being the knower of all things, cannot be known by anything else. The Upanishad says: 'Who can know Him by whom everything else is known? Who can know the knower?' The mind, which is the means of knowing, is not to make the Atman its object, because in the Atman the opposition between the seer and the seen is abolished. The mind can know only what is knowable as an external object, but i...

Books The Mundaka Upanishad: 14  The Third Mundaka:  Second Khanda Mantras No. 9: to 11: Swami Krishnananda. Post-15. ================================================================================================= Mantra No. 9: He who knows the Supreme Brahman becomes Brahman Itself. In his family none devoid of the Knowledge of Brahman is born. He crosses over sorrow, he crosses over sin. Freed from the knots of the heart he becomes Immortal. It may be thought that the knower of Brahman may be obstructed by Devas, etc., from attaining perfection. But, this is not possible in the case of a knower of Brahman or even an aspirant after the knowledge of Brahman. Obstacles are possible only in the case of those whose effort is put forth for the attainment of something which is particularised. Whenever one struggles to obtain something which is not u...
