SRI GAUDAPADA
Sri Gaudapada - (c. 8th century CE) (also referred as Shri Gaudapadacharya) was a very early guru in the tradition of Advaita Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy. He is traditionally said to have been the grand-guru of the great teacher Adi Shankara, one of the most important figures in Hindu philosophy and also believed to be the founder of Shri Gaudapadacharya Math.

Karika Slokam : 14.

"Sapna-nidra-yuta-vadyau
prajnas-tva-svapna-nidraya |
na nidraṃ naiva ca svapnam
turye pasyanti niscitah." || 14 ||
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Karika Slokam Translation :

Svapna nidra yutau = Associated wth dream and sleep;
adyau = the first two;
tu prajnah = but prajna;
asvapna nidraya = dreamless sleep;
na nidram = neither sleep;
eva ca svapnam = and even in dream;
turye = in turiyam;
na pasyanti = do not see;
niscitah =  wisemen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tatvam (Essence) of karika Slokam-14.

Visva and Taijasa - the former two are associated wth conditions of dream and sleep, Prajna is the state of sleep without dream.
Those who have nown the Truth do not see either sleep or dream in Turiya.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Discourse :

 Svapna or dream is the 'mis-apprehension 1' of Reality like that of the snake in the rope. Nidra or sleep has already been defined as darkness characterised by the absence of the Knowledge of Reality. Visva and Taijasa are associated with these, viz., the conditions of dream and sleep.
Therefore they have been described as conditioned by the characteristics of cause and effect. But Prajna is associated with sleep alone without dream; therefore it is described as conditioned by cause only.
The knower of Brahmam does not see them (dream and sleep) in 'Turiya,2' as it would be inconsistent like seeing darkness in the Sun. 'Therefore3' Turiya has been described as not associated with the conditions of cause and effect.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Anandagiri Tika (glossary)

1 Mis-apprehension—i.e., when one, then, thinks of Atman as endowed with body, etc.

2 Turiya—Ajnanam and its effects cannot exist in Turiya which is pure Knowledge.

3 Therefore—It is because there is no Nidra or sleep in Turiya.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion :

We have found that when the Reality conscious of the body, identifying Itself as the GROSS-BODY, LOOKS OUT INTO THE WORLD, IT EXPERIENCE the multiplicity in the waking-state-world  ,and the experience gained theren are the contents of the life of the 'Waker.' When the awareness is withdrawn from the physical structure, the world-of-objects aso disappear. When one's attention is thus withdrawn, one identifies oneself with the stare-body constituted of the mind and intellect; this creates the world of dream, and roaming about in it, one gathers one's share of experiences in the dream life.
