Mantram : 2.


"Atha adhi-lokam; prithivi purva rupam; dhau uttara rupam;

akashah sandhih; vayuh sandhanam; ityadhilokam."

Translation :


atha adhi-lokam; = Now the teaching concerning the “Worlds” is this:


prithivi purva rupam; = EARTH - is the first letter;


dhauh uttara rupam; =  HEAVEN - is the last letter;


akashah sandhih; = SKY - is the meeting place;


vayuh sandhanam; = AIR - is the link;


itiadhi-lokam (dhyayat). = This is the meditation with regard to the “Worlds”.

Essence of the mantram :


Now the teaching concerning the “Worlds” is this:


The earth is the prior form, the heaven ( firmament ) is the posterior form, the atmosphere is the junction, air is the connection - thus one meditate upon the Universe . ....
