(Spoken on January 14th, 1973) Post-2. =================================================================================== The objective analysis given to us in the Aitareya Upanishad tells us that the individual seeking freedom and salvation has come out from the Supreme Being itself; therefore, its blessedness, its final destiny, lies in the realisation of its original identity with the Supreme Being. The Atman is Consciousness, Brahman is Consciousness.  Prajna pratistha prajnanam brahma (A.U. 3.1.3) says the Upanishad.  This prajnana is also the essence of the individual soul. By the saman adhikarana method, or the bhauda saman adhikarana, as they call it, the recognition of a common substratum being there between two entities establishes the existence of a common factor between them. =================================================================================== Saturday  31, Aug 2024, 07:15. Upanishads: The Secret of the Katha Upanishad:  Swami Krishnananda. Discourse No. 3 Post - 18. =================================================================================== The nature of reality becomes a difficulty for the human understanding because of there being no defining characteristics of reality. You cannot say it has a colour. You cannot say it has a shape. You cannot say it has any kind of quality which can be interpreted in human language. All definition is in terms of visible or sensible characters. The sensible character of an object is not the ultimate definition of it, because we are here trying to understand the essential constituent of an object and not its character as it is presented to the senses. The test of reality, the nature of Truth or Satya, is non-contradiction. Truth is that which can never be contradicted by any other definition, experie

Article Scriptures Kenopanishad Commentary on Section 1 Mantram - 5 (Continued) Post-11. ================================================================================== Mantram- 5(Continued): The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad has a series of negations known as neti neti, 'not this, not this' or, rather, 'not thus, not thus', which means to say that Truth is not this which we are seeing or conceiving through the senses and the mind. How are we to negate the not-Truth from the Truth, or the not-Self from the Self? By setting aside those things, those forms, those conceptions which are external to the knowing consciousness. The objects, in the beginning, appear multitudinous, and we choose a few objects for the concentration of our minds. Later on we entangle ourselves in more and more of larger numbers of things, and then, at a very advanced stage, with a philos

=================================================================================== Wednesday 28, Aug 2024, 06:30. Article Scriptures Upanishads The Brihadaranyaka Upanishad  Post-4. =================================================================================== I am just repeating briefly, in outline, the processes of analysis that we conducted earlier on this issue. Consciousness is inside, and therefore it is not outside. How does consciousness know that it is not outside? The process of perception is the commingling of consciousness with that which it considers as its object. Consciousness has to contact the object in order that it may become aware that the object is existing at all. The contacting of consciousness in this manner, in respect of the object, would preclude the old opinion that it is only inside. If it is locked up within the personality of an individual, no one can know that there is anything outside one's own skin. You will not know that there is a tree stan
